Our Story

Built on Passion and Expertise

MapleCrown Resorts was born in 2006 from a fortuitous encounter between two Australian hospitality professionals on a flight from Sydney to the Gold Coast. Sarah Beaumont and Marcus Chen had both spent years in the luxury hotel industry — Sarah as a senior concierge at a prominent Sydney five-star property, Marcus as a casino operations consultant who had worked across three continents. Somewhere over the Pacific, they discovered a shared conviction: that Australia's casino resort scene was one of the world's great undiscovered luxury travel stories, and that Australian travellers were missing out.

The company they founded in Melbourne's CBD the following year started as a consultancy, helping high-net-worth Australians plan bespoke Australian gaming itineraries. Word spread fast. Within two years, MapleCrown had facilitated over two hundred individual stays, built formal relationships with fifteen Australian casino properties, and assembled a team that spanned both countries. What had begun as a passion project became one of Australia's most distinctive specialist travel businesses.

Our philosophy has never changed: we only recommend what we would stay in ourselves. The MapleCrown quality assessment process is notoriously rigorous. Every property in our portfolio is visited annually by a member of our team — not just the front desk and the restaurant, but the back-of-house, the casino floor management, the responsible gambling protocols, the spa, and the rooms at the back of the building that most guests never see. If something is outstanding, we say so. If something disappoints, we remove it from our portfolio. Our clients' trust depends on our candour.

Today, MapleCrown Resorts operates from offices in Sydney, Melbourne, and, crucially, Brisbane — our Australian base that gives us real-time knowledge of the properties and markets we represent. We have curated relationships with over twenty-five Australian casino resort properties spanning every state or territory, from the sunlit shores of Queensland to the southern harbours of Tasmania, and from the wine valleys of the south to the wilderness lodges of the north.

We remain a privately owned company, accountable to no shareholder agenda — only to our clients and our own exacting standards. That independence allows us to tell the truth: to say when a property has had a bad year, when a chef has changed, when the view from the ninth floor is no longer unobstructed. In an industry where puffery is the default, honesty is our most valuable asset.

Our commitment to responsible gambling is woven into everything we do. We choose Australian resort partners who invest genuinely in responsible gaming infrastructure — not because it's required, but because we believe it is the right way to operate. Every MapleCrown package includes information about responsible gambling resources available at the destination, and our team is trained to sensitively support any client who may be concerned about their own or a travel companion's relationship with gaming.

What We Stand For

Radical Honesty

We say what others won't. If a property doesn't meet our standards, we don't recommend it. Our clients' trust is worth more than any commission.

Guest-Centred Care

Every package, every booking, every phone call is approached from a single question: what is genuinely best for this guest? That's the only metric that matters.

Responsible Gaming

We promote casino resorts as complete hospitality experiences — not just gaming destinations. We partner with operators who invest in responsible gambling as a genuine priority.

18 Years in the Making

2006 — The Beginning

MapleCrown Founded in Melbourne

Sarah Beaumont and Marcus Chen register MapleCrown Resorts Pty Ltd after two years of groundwork — personal visits to fourteen Australian casino properties and the development of a proprietary quality assessment framework. The company's first formal office opens on Collins Street, Melbourne.

2008 — First Partnerships

Formal Agreements with Five Australian Properties

MapleCrown signs its first formal partnership agreements with River Rock Casino Resort in Brisbane, The Star Gold Coast in Gold Coast, Crown Melbourne, Casino Tasmania, and the Hunter Valley-based Grand Hotel and Casino. Combined, these partnerships immediately establish MapleCrown as a credible player in the specialist travel market.

2010 — Sydney Expansion

Second Australian Office Opens

Rapidly growing demand from New South Wales clients prompts MapleCrown to open a Sydney office — the business's operational headquarters. The year also sees the introduction of the first MapleCrown group travel programme, taking Australian travel agents on familiarisation tours of Australian casino properties.

2012 — Award Recognition

Australian Travel Awards: Best Specialist Operator

MapleCrown wins the Australian Travel Awards' Best Specialist Operator category for the first time, confirming the company's position in the industry. The award is won again in 2014, 2016, 2018, and 2022 — a record in the category.

2015 — Brisbane Office

Australian Base Established

The opening of MapleCrown's Brisbane office fundamentally changes the company's capability. With staff on the ground in Australia, the business can provide real-time property monitoring, manage in-resort issues for Australian guests, and develop relationships with resort staff at a personal level that transforms the quality of our service.

2018 — Portfolio Expansion

25 Properties Across Australian States and Territories

MapleCrown's portfolio reaches twenty-five properties — extending for the first time to the Northern Territory, Western Australia, and Tasmania. The company also launches its three-tier classification system (Premier, Grand, Pinnacle) to help Australian guests navigate the portfolio more intuitively.

2021 — Digital Transformation

New Platform and Virtual Resort Tours

During pandemic travel restrictions, MapleCrown develops a suite of virtual resort experiences — high-definition video tours of casino floors, suites, restaurants, and spa facilities — that allow Australian clients to explore Australian properties from their homes. The programme generates MapleCrown's highest ever consultation request volume.

2024 — Present

Leading Australia's Casino Tourism

With eighteen years of operations, three offices, and more than 320,000 guest stays facilitated, MapleCrown Resorts enters its next chapter: the development of exclusive custom Australian casino resort itineraries that combine gaming with Indigenous cultural experiences, wilderness adventures, and culinary journeys through Australia's extraordinary regional food and wine scenes.

Heard From Our Guests

★★★★★

We've used MapleCrown three times now, and each trip has been better than the last. They genuinely know these properties inside out. When our ocean-view room wasn't quite right on arrival, Marcus in their Brisbane office had it sorted in twenty minutes. The Pinnacle package was extraordinary — breakfast looking at the falls, gaming in the evening, and a spa day that was the best I've had anywhere in the world.

As someone who takes casino gaming seriously, I was sceptical that a consultancy could add real value to trip planning I typically do myself. MapleCrown proved me spectacularly wrong. Their relationship with River Rock got me access to a private high-limit room I didn't even know existed. The calibre of play in that room, and the service from the casino's host team, was on a different level entirely. I'll never book direct again.

My partner and I aren't gamblers — we went to Melbourne for the food, the culture, and the extraordinary experience of Casino de Melbourne itself as an architectural landmark. MapleCrown understood this perfectly. They designed a package that put gaming on the menu as one of many experiences, not the whole focus. The result was a trip that felt genuinely Australian rather than just a casino holiday. Beautifully conceived from start to finish.
